Beachin’
The many different beaches around our island paradise make it so nobody is far away from the ocean. A favorite pastime of ours is to spend the morning walking up and down the coast before relaxing in the sun and taking a refreshing swim in the beautiful ocean waters that surround our island. While you’re out swimming, be sure to keep an eye out for some of the incredible ocean life that share the island with us. Sea turtles and manta rays are commonly seen, as well as a multitude of tropical fish surrounding the coral reefs. Other popular beach activities include jet skiing, watching the dolphins swim, and parasailing. The beach is without a doubt, one of the best places to be on the island.
Boonie Stomping
Boonie stomping is another great way to spend the morning, afternoon, or any part of the day here on Guam. For those who do not know, boonie stomping is what we here on the island call going for a hike off the beaten path, and exploring the many wonders of our wondrous environment. On these boonie stomps, you’ll see some of the gorgeous waterfalls and mountains, mysterious caves, and historical sites that make our island such an amazing place to live. Remember to bring some extra water while you’re out stomping around. You never know how long your next adventure might keep you out!
Chamorro Historical Sites
Paired with the natural beauty of the island, the historical Chamorro landmarks are great destinations to visit at any time of the day. The graceful remains of the Spanish buildings, bridges, and other structures can be seen throughout the jungles and even in Hagåtña. Visiting these sites gives you a sense of what life on Guam was like for our ancestors, and how much they accomplished and built without using many of the modern tools that we use today. Visiting the Chamorro sites is great for the whole family as stories and teachings can be passed down to make sure we all remember our past.
