Nissan LEAF wins first international award

Did you know that the Nissan LEAF is the best-selling all-electric vehicle in the world? Well, now you do! Earlier this month, it was announced that the LEAF took home a top award at the Consumer Electronic Show. The LEAF earned the Best of Innovation award as given by the Consumer Technology Association. The zero-emission LEAF has been lauded for its environmental friendliness and extreme efficiency. This award is a big deal! It validates the concept surrounding electric vehicles even more so than before. Celebrate this accomplishment by reading up on the upcoming 2018 Nissan LEAF.

The newest version of the LEAF has yet to be released to the open market in the United States (and its territories), Canada, or Europe. It was made available in October in Japan, but shoppers elsewhere will have to wait a little longer. Customers in Guam and other markets around the world can expect to see the LEAF in showrooms by the end of January 2018.

As an all-electric car, the LEAF is far from your ordinary automobile. There is no need to worry about gas mileage or even engine oil. Instead, LEAF drivers think about charge mileage. On one full charge (about eight hours with a 6kW charger), the LEAF can go 155 miles before needing another power boost. The new 40kW battery is partly responsible for the improved driving range. The output of the LEAF has also been improved to 110kW as opposed to 80kW. This allows the car to hit a 0-60 time of 7.9 seconds. The LEAF also has 147 horsepower under the hood, which is more than a lot of people might expect from an all-electric car.
