The left-most lane on highways and other multi-laned streets is often considered to be the fast lane. Those driving faster than others should use the left lane when possible. But if you use the middle or right-most lanes, you generally give yourself more time and more options if you do encounter an accident. Statistically, most highway accidents occur in the left lane.
Don’t just keep an eye on whoever is in front of you and call it good enough. Keep an eye out for everything ahead of you on the road and the sidewalks. This maximizes your awareness and increases the chances of you seeing something to avoid. Stay focused and stop the texting!
