Two new Nissan models – the new 2018 Nissan Kicks and the 2019 Nissan Sentra compact – have been named the latest Top Safety Picks by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety! To qualify for the Top Safety Pick award, vehicles must receive a rating of “good” in five different crash tests. It also needs to have an available front crash prevention system, and that system needs to earn a rating of “superior or advanced” at the least. They must also receive at least “good” or “acceptable” ratings in their headlight testing.
Both the Nissan Kicks and the Nissan Sentra aced the five crash tests, and they also received great ratings in a front crash prevention system test. However, they only got an “acceptable” rating for their headlights, which denied them the Top Safety Pick Plus, the highest award offered of the IIHS. Despite this, these two vehicles are still amazing in terms of safety and security!
