What does ProPILOT Assist do?

It can be a bit tricky to keep up with new safety technologies in today’s cars. It is 2018, after all, and we see new breakthroughs on a daily basis. Nissan’s ProPILOT Assist system, for instance, is a modern marvel and it is continuing to improve all the time. ProPILOT Assist contains many different technological advancements that keep drivers safe as well as amazed. Read on to learn more.

Steering assist

One feature of ProPILOT Assist is its steering help system. When the program senses unintentional drifting out of a lane, it will correct your steering slightly so you don’t have a collision or drift too far into the wrong lane. Even the most attentive and experienced drivers struggle some drifting and steering assist minimizes the chances or an accident occurring due to drifting.

Intelligent cruise control

This innovative subsystem monitors the traffic flow all around you. Woah, that already sounds pretty amazing. Yes, intelligent cruise control is like traditional cruise control, but it comes with a catch. You can set your desired following distance behind the vehicle in front of you. Radar allows intelligent cruise control to automatically adjust the speed of your Nissan so your set distance remains the same. If traffic comes to a complete stop, the radar will sense it and bring your car to a stop automatically. But hey, this is NOT an excuse to take your eyes off the road.

Emergency braking and pedestrian detection

You now know that ProPILOT Assist can stop your Nissan automatically. This part of the system will notify you via visual and audible alerts of a pending hazard or collision in the road ahead. This is designed to stop accidents from happening but also as damage control if one does indeed happen. Accidents can’t be completely wiped out, but ProPILOT Assist works to eradicate collisions as much as it can.
