2017 Nissan Qashqai Reveal and the Future of the Rogue Sport

What is the 2017 Nissan Qashqai Design?

Last month at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, Nissan debuted the newest version of the Nissan Qashqai compact crossover. Naturally, this raises the question, “What is the 2017 Nissan Qashqai design?” For those who don’t know, the Nissan Qashqai is essentially a European cousin of the Rogue Sport. The Qashqai is mostly the same as the Rogue Sport on the inside and out, but there are a few changes worth discussing.

New Features of the Nissan Qashqai

As you may have seen on other Nissan vehicles, there is a new version of the ‘V-motion’ grille going around on new Nissans, and the 2017 Qashqai is happy to receive one. The Qashqai is also excited to receive a new set of headlights, plus a few new engine options. Unfortunately, the diesel options can’t be found here in the US, but we are sure that you would still appreciate the non-diesel options.

The main point of discussion is the integration of Nissan’s semi-autonomous ProPilot technology. We already knew that the Nissan Leaf would be receiving this technology in the future, but we did not foresee a compact crossover receiving the same. For anyone who isn’t familiar with the ProPilot system, this technology allows a vehicle to to steer, brake, and accelerate in a single lane. The intended function of the system is that it would help with stop-and-go traffic on bumper-to-bumper highways, roads, etc.

What is the Future of the Nissan Rogue Sport?

Well, since the Qashqai is so similar to the Nissan Rogue Sport, we can’t help but wonder if the integration of the ProPilot system into the Qashqai is a foreshadowing of the same technology one day coming to the Nissan Rogue Sport. At this point, we admit, it is mostly speculation; but it certainly seems plausible considering the numerous similarities between the international cousins.
