Does Nissan make a robot car?

The future is clearly now. A self-driving, robotic car? This reality was once merely the concept of a bad 1980s science fiction movie. Nissan has taken a front seat for driving forward in the world of technology, and its latest collaboration with NASA furthers that. NASA? Like, the United States’ space agency? Yes, that NASA. Now that we have your attention, keep reading to learn more.

Nissan’s self-driving car

Worries may come with the thought of a robotic car, and that’s totally understandable. The worry might even outweigh the excitement. It’s totally normal to have reservations about a car that you aren’t completely controlling. Your robot paranoia might already be on high alert if you’ve seen movies like I, Robot. We can assure you that Nissan’s artificial intelligence and technology will not try to take over the world. This robotic technology is only the beginning and it’s a sign of things to come for the automotive industry.

The robotic car won’t have as many mechanical problems. But why does your current Nissan overheat?

Working with NASA has shed new light on the idea of a self-driving car. Former NASA robotic researcher, Dr. Liam Pedersen compared the self-driving car to the rovers on Mars. “They both use similar autonomous systems to navigate their respective environments,” Pedersen said. “Robots on Mars, like the 4WD rover, need to sense their surroundings. They need to make their own decisions about what to do. And that is what a robot car also needs to do on Earth.”

While the current self-driving model is just a prototype, there is no exact date for when a self-driving car made by Nissan will be available at dealerships. The Xmotion concept (pictured) is yet another step for Nissan Intelligent mobility technology. Embrace the future. It’s here.
